PumpNSeal $32.95 Frequently Asked Questions
- Why do I need to vacuum seal food? TO KEEP IT FRESH! Vacuum sealing preserves flavor, freshness, color, nutrition and chrispness and prevents freezer-burn.
- Does the PumpNSeal (Pump-N-Seal) use electricity or batteries? NO! The Pump-N-Seal is manually opeerated and completely portable.
- Is the PumpNSeal as powerful as the electric sealers? MORE POWERFUL! The Pump-N-Seal's commercial quality vacuum is over 3000% more powerful than many of the electriclally operated, so called, "vacuum sealers" and 20% more powerful AND FASTER than even the best $250 to $300 electric vacuum sealers.
- Do I need special expensive jars? NO! You can vacuum seal any jar that you buy food in at the store (that has been previously vacuume sealed).
- How often can I reseal the same jar? HUNDREDS OF TIMES. Unless the lid is dented or distorted, or the glass is chipped, the same jar may be permanently vacuum sealed hundreds of times.
- I have many canning jars. Will the Pump-N-Seal vacuum seal them? YES! Any size or shape. You don't even need the screw-down ring. The Pump-N-Seal's vacuum is so powerful that it holds the lid down tightly, sealing the jar without the ring.
- How long will a jar hold the vacuum? 10 YEARS OR MORE! The Pump-N-Seal is only 10 years old so we have no test jars older than that.
- How does the Pump-N-Seal work on jars? VERY EASILY! You punch a small hole in the jar lid (punch is provided). Then you apply a small flat adhesive-backed check-valve, called a Tab-Chek, over the hole. Set the Pump-N-Seal on the lid, over the Tab-Chek and pump several times, then remove the Pump-N-Seal. The jar remains permanently vacuum sealed until reopened.
- Do I have to punch a new hole and use another Tab-Chek each time I want to reseal the same jar and lid? NO! Just position the Pump-N-Seal on the lid, pump and remove. You may use the same jar, lid and Tab-Chek many times.
- What kind of items should I vacuum pack in a jar? JUST ABOUT ANYTHING THAT FITS IN THE JAR! All sorts of foods including frozen, refrigerated, dryed, soups, stews, granuals, powders, etc. Yes, even jewlery and collectables.... vacuum prevents tarnishing
- Can I store vacuum sealed jars in the freezer? YES! If you are storing soups, stews, or densely packed foods, leave some room near the top of the jar for expansion when the food freezes.
- Can I store flour in jars? YES! However, do not fill the jar too full and then place a coffee filter on top of the flour to preven dust from coming out of the hole in the lid, causing the Tab-Chek to leak.
- What kinds of items should I vacuum pack in bags? NO LIQUIDS, POWDERS, SHARP OBJECTS, CRUSHABLES! Liquids and powders will suck into the Pump-N-Seal, sharp objects will puncture the bag, and crushables will crush.
- The $300 vacuum sealers require special expensive bags. Do I need special bags for the Pump-N-Seal? NO! You can vacuum seal any good quality leak proof zipper-locking bag with the Pump-N-Seal.

- How many times do I have to pump the Pump-N-Seal? THAT VARIES? If your container is small and nearly full, you may only need to pump 3 or 4 times. If the container is larger and only 3/4 full, you may have to pump 10 to 20 times.
- Is the Pump-N-Seal easy to operate? YES! Even younger children can operate it.
- How much vacuum will the Pump-N-Seal create? OVER 28 IN OF MERCURY! That's about 94% of maximum attainable vacuum (such as the vacuum found in outer space).
